How it plays
The game uses a third-person overhead and side-view presentation across story stages based on Years 5-7. Players explore locations, break LEGO objects, defeat enemies, cast spells, and solve environmental puzzles to advance.
Story missions can be replayed with additional characters and abilities, allowing access to previously unreachable areas and collectibles. Progression follows the adapted narrative, with free-play-style revisits providing extra exploration and completion goals.
Plan your run
Search each area before moving on, since breakable objects often hide studs, collectibles, or puzzle components.
Use the character or spell suited to the obstacle rather than repeatedly attacking it. Revisit completed stages with unlocked characters when a route or object appears inaccessible.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 is an action-adventure game developed by Traveller's Tales for Nintendo DS and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It adapts the final three Harry Potter stories, following Harry, Ron, Hermione, and their allies through the resistance at Hogwarts, the search for Horcruxes, and the final battle with Voldemort. The game combines compact platforming stages, puzzle solving, spell-based interactions, collectible hunting, and light combat in the series' comic LEGO style. The DS edition is a separate handheld adaptation rather than a direct copy of the larger console versions. Reception generally recognized its faithful story coverage and accessible humor, while noting simpler presentation and more limited level design than the home-console releases.
