Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game is viewed primarily from the A-10 cockpit. Missions assign objectives such as attacking armored vehicles, artillery, buildings, and other battlefield targets while managing fuel, ammunition, damage, and threats from enemy defenses.
Players select and employ guns, bombs, rockets, and guided weapons according to the target and mission situation. Progression is organized through a sequence of combat missions, with success depending on completing objectives and returning from the operation rather than simply destroying every visible enemy.
Plan your run
Read the mission briefing carefully and plan weapon use around the listed targets. Preserve specialized weapons for high-value or well-protected objectives instead of spending them on minor targets.
Use the A-10’s low-altitude attack role thoughtfully: make attack runs, avoid lingering over defended areas, and monitor aircraft damage and ammunition before committing to another pass.
Before you begin
Match each weapon to the target type and keep reserve ammunition for mission-critical objectives.
Avoid making repeated passes over the same defended position when a safer approach is available.
A-10 Tank Killer is a combat flight simulator developed by Dynamix and published by Sierra On-Line for DOS in 1995. It puts the player in the cockpit of the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, with missions focused on close air support and the destruction of ground targets. The game combines cockpit-based flight, weapon management, navigation, and battlefield tactics rather than presenting a purely arcade-style dogfight experience. Its campaign structure and detailed aircraft presentation gave it a distinctive place among mid-1990s PC simulations. Contemporary interest centered on its subject matter, graphics, and sound, while the demanding controls and simulation-oriented pacing made it less immediately accessible than arcade flight games.
