How it plays

How does Abuse play?

Abuse is viewed from the side, with exploration taking place across large platforming stages rather than a simple sequence of short screens. The main objective is to reach the exit while surviving enemies, hazards, locked passages, and environmental puzzles.

Nick moves and jumps through the facility while aiming independently with the mouse. Weapons include firearms and other destructive tools, and ammunition management matters during harder encounters. Progress comes from finding switches, navigating alternate routes, collecting power-ups, and defeating enemies that guard key areas. The DOS release also supports multiplayer modes, including cooperative and competitive play, depending on the setup.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Abuse?

Learn to aim while moving rather than standing still. Keep distance from enemies, use corners and platforms for cover, and avoid wasting ammunition on targets that can be bypassed.

Explore side passages for weapons, health, armor, and switches. When a room seems blocked, look for destructible surfaces, hidden routes, or a trigger elsewhere in the stage. Save progress frequently before unfamiliar combat areas.
