Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The player views the action from the aircraft cockpit and flies through a mission area containing hostile targets. The main objectives are to locate enemies, engage them with the available weapons, and remain airborne long enough to complete the sortie.
Flight is handled through directional controls and weapon commands. Progression is mission-based rather than character-based, with success depending on target recognition, positioning, and ammunition management. The DOS release has no known role-playing or persistent upgrade system.
Plan your run
Stay alert for targets and avoid spending ammunition before confirming an enemy. Use positioning rather than constant turning to keep hostile aircraft within attack range.
Because the available documentation for the DOS controls is limited, consult the in-game instructions or the original manual for the exact keyboard layout.
ACE is a combat flight simulator developed by Cascade Games for DOS. It places the player in control of a fast military aircraft during air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. The game combines a first-person cockpit view with simple arcade-style flight handling, making interception and target destruction more important than detailed simulation. Missions are built around identifying hostile aircraft, managing weapons, and surviving attacks while flying through a sparse 3D environment. ACE is remembered as an early home-computer combat flight game, although its presentation and controls are limited by the hardware of its era. Its straightforward action helped establish the ACE name before the later ACE 2.
