Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The player sees the airline from a managerial perspective. The main tasks are selecting routes, buying and assigning aircraft, deciding ticket prices, and monitoring costs. Passenger numbers change as the simulation runs, so the player has to adjust strategy to stay profitable. The long-term goal is to grow the airline and gain a dominant position over rival carriers.
Plan your run
A safe approach is to start with a small fleet and concentrate on short, steady routes. Keep ticket prices attractive but high enough to cover operating costs, and avoid acquiring aircraft before a route has proved profitable. Having a cash reserve helps absorb bad months when demand falls.
Airline is a business simulation game developed and published by Micro Power in 1983 for the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron. The player takes charge of a small airline and must manage routes, aircraft, fares, and spending in order to build a profitable business.
