Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a first-person perspective and divides its world into many separate archipelagos. Each island contains obelisks, trees, generators, and other objects that must be investigated and manipulated to complete the area.
The main objective is to destroy the required obelisks and reach the exit or completion condition without succumbing to radiation. Movement is deliberate, and progress depends on recognizing relationships between objects, finding safe routes, and learning how each island's hazards work. The game is primarily a solo exploration challenge rather than a combat-focused action game.
Plan your run
Study the island before acting, because radiation and environmental hazards can make careless movement costly.
Before you begin
Use landmarks to build a mental map of each island.
Investigate the relationship between obelisks and nearby environmental objects before committing to a route.
If an area becomes dangerous, retreat and approach the puzzle from another direction.
Archipelagos is a surreal first-person exploration and puzzle game developed and published by Logotron for DOS. The player travels across hostile island groups, each presented as a compact 3D landscape filled with strange structures, vegetation, and environmental hazards. The central premise is to cleanse every island by destroying its obelisks and other linked targets while surviving radiation and carefully managing movement. Its abstract visuals, unusual objectives, and nontraditional science-fiction atmosphere made it distinctive among late-1980s and early-1990s computer games. Reception was mixed but often appreciated its originality and scale.
