Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
Two players, or a player against a computer-controlled opponent, take turns selecting an angle and a firing speed. A trajectory is then calculated and displayed, often as a simple line plot. Players must adjust their aim based on the target's distance, and the first to land a direct hit wins.
Plan your run
Start with a reasonable angle and velocity based on the measured distance. If the shell falls short, increase the angle or speed slightly; if it overshoots, reduce one of the two values. Change only one variable at a time for easier correction.
Artillery is a turn-based gunner game that appeared in several early computer and home-computer versions. The player controls a cannon and enters the angle and velocity of a shot in order to destroy an enemy gun. It is commonly recognized as one of the early examples of the artillery-game genre.
