Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The player operates a gun turret from a first-person perspective and engages hostile vehicles or battlefield targets. The main objective is to survive encounters and destroy assigned threats while managing the limited information available through the sight and battlefield view.
Missions are structured around combat situations rather than exploration. Progress depends on identifying targets quickly, aiming accurately, and choosing when to fire. Because the game is centered on a turret position, movement and battlefield awareness are more restricted than in a conventional tank-driving game.
Plan your run
Scan the full visible area before committing to a shot, and avoid firing immediately at every possible target. Confirm the threat and use deliberate aim, since missed shots can leave the turret exposed during an engagement.
Prioritize the most immediate or dangerous targets first. Learn the visual cues of each encounter and keep checking surrounding sectors after every attack instead of focusing on only one opponent.
Backlash: A Turret Gunner Simulation is a DOS action game built around the viewpoint of a vehicle-mounted gunner. Instead of commanding an entire army or driving from a conventional third-person view, the player focuses on scanning the battlefield, tracking hostile targets, and operating a heavy turret in combat. Its design combines arcade-style shooting with simulation elements, emphasizing positioning, target recognition, and weapon handling. The game is a relatively obscure mid-1990s DOS release, and detailed contemporary documentation is limited. It is best approached as a specialized turret-combat experience rather than a broad vehicle simulator.
