Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a top-down view of compact maps populated by friendly and opposing Baldies. The main objective is generally to develop your settlement and overcome the rival population, using construction, resource gathering, combat, and special abilities.
Players direct Baldies to perform different jobs, build or occupy structures, reproduce, and attack enemies. Different types of Baldies support different tasks, so progression depends on growing a useful population and managing space while the opposition develops at the same time.
Plan your run
Expand carefully rather than sending every Baldy into combat. Keep enough workers available to maintain construction and population growth, and use specialized Baldies for the tasks they perform best.
Watch the whole map frequently. Rival settlements can grow while you are focused on one fight, so protect important buildings, avoid overcrowding, and attack when your population and capabilities provide a clear advantage.
Before you begin
Build up your settlement before committing to a prolonged attack.
Use the map view regularly to monitor rival expansion.
Baldies is a real-time god game developed by Creative Edge Software for DOS. The player oversees a settlement of small bald people and guides its growth while competing against rival communities. Rather than controlling a single hero, the game focuses on directing groups, assigning work, expanding buildings, and using specialized Baldies to gain an advantage. Its presentation is colorful and deliberately humorous, contrasting with the strategic pressure of territorial conflict. Baldies received attention for its unusual population-management concept and accessible interface, although reviews also noted that the busy action and sometimes opaque rules could make it difficult to master. The DOS edition is best understood as an early, distinctive example of a character-driven strategy simulation.
