Batman
The playable hero, investigating a criminal plot in Gotham City.
How it plays
Batman explores side-scrolling stages from a mostly horizontal perspective. Objectives include reaching the end of each area, defeating enemies, avoiding hazards, and confronting major villains.
The player moves, jumps, attacks, and uses Batman's equipment to handle enemies and obstacles. Levels are arranged as linear missions with platforming sections and boss encounters. Progression comes primarily from completing stages rather than from a character-statistics system.
Plan your run
Study enemy patterns before attacking, especially in narrow corridors where Batman has little room to retreat. Keep moving through platform sections and check the edges of platforms for hazards.
Against bosses, prioritize survival and learn the timing of their attacks before committing to a counterattack. Use Batman’s available equipment when direct contact is unsafe.

Batman: Vengeance is a 2001 action-platform game for the Game Boy Advance, published by Ubisoft and based on the animated Batman universe. The player controls Batman as he investigates a series of crimes connected to the Joker and other dangerous criminals. The game combines side-scrolling platform exploration with direct combat, gadget use, and occasional environmental puzzles. Its presentation and characters draw from Batman: The Animated Series, while the handheld version uses a more traditional platform-game structure than the contemporaneous console releases. Reception was mixed: critics generally recognized the licensed presentation and variety of abilities, but commonly noted uneven controls, repetitive combat, and technical limitations typical of the hardware.
