How it plays

How does Battle Beast play?

The game uses a side-view perspective for one-on-one fights. Players select a beast and face opponents through a tournament ladder, with each bout taking place in a separate arena.

Combat includes movement, jumping, normal attacks, blocking, and character-specific special attacks. Winning rounds advances the tournament. During fights, beasts can build energy and transform into stronger forms, changing their appearance and improving their offensive potential.

A versus mode supports direct matches between two players. The DOS release uses keyboard controls, with the exact layout depending on the configured setup.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Battle Beast?

Learn the timing and range of each beast's basic attacks before relying on special moves. Staying close can help heavy characters, while faster fighters should use short attacks, retreat, and punish missed swings.

Block when an opponent commits to a long attack, then answer during the recovery period. Save transformation energy for rounds where the extra power can secure a decisive advantage, rather than spending it immediately.
