How it plays

How does The Big Red Adventure play?

The game is viewed from a series of hand-drawn, third-person screens. The objective is to investigate each area, obtain useful objects, speak with characters, and solve puzzles that open new locations or advance the story.

The player controls Vasily Ivanovich and Petka through mouse-driven commands. Inventory items can be examined, used on scenery, or combined with other objects. Progress is mostly linear, with new conversations and interactions becoming available as earlier problems are resolved.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play The Big Red Adventure?

Examine every visible object and revisit locations after major conversations. Many solutions depend on using an item with a specific person or scene rather than simply collecting it.

Keep notes on unusual dialogue and try alternative conversation choices. If a puzzle seems impossible, inspect the inventory descriptions again and look for an object that has not yet been tried on the current scene.
