Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game presents a top-down battlefield containing the player's tank, enemy vehicles, obstacles, and usable terrain. The objective is to destroy opposing tanks while surviving incoming fire and completing the current combat scenario.
Players steer, aim, and fire while choosing routes through the map. Progression is based on clearing successive battles or scenarios rather than developing a persistent character. Exact scenario structure and multiplayer options can vary by release and configuration.
Plan your run
Use obstacles as cover and avoid remaining in open ground while enemies have a clear firing line. Fire from a stable position, then relocate before several opponents can concentrate on the tank.
Conserve ammunition when the battlefield permits careful positioning, and prioritize nearby or rapidly approaching enemies before distant targets.
Before you begin
Use terrain and obstacles to break enemy lines of fire.
Keep moving after attacking from an exposed position.
Prioritize threats that can surround or flank the tank.
Bolo is a top-down tank-combat action game developed by Synergistic Software and published by Accolade for DOS in 1987. The player controls a small armored vehicle across a scrolling battlefield, fighting enemy tanks while managing ammunition, movement, and positioning. Its design combines arcade-style shooting with light tactical decisions: terrain, obstacles, and the arrangement of opposing vehicles affect how safely the player can advance. The game is primarily a single-screen or scenario-based combat experience rather than a story-driven campaign. Bolo belongs to the early home-computer tradition of direct, skill-focused vehicle games. Contemporary attention centered on its straightforward action and multiplayer-oriented combat, although its reception and exact feature set vary between platform versions.
