Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
Each stage presents a self-contained puzzle in which the player must manipulate bombs and environmental elements to achieve the required result. The important challenge is usually deciding where an explosion will occur and how its timing or chain reaction affects the rest of the board.
Progression comes from clearing stages rather than developing a character. Careful observation is more useful than rapid input, and failed attempts generally teach the player how the puzzle behaves. The supplied DOS version does not have a reliably documented modern control mapping here.
Plan your run
Study the entire board before placing or triggering anything. Identify walls, targets, hazards, and possible chain reactions, then work backward from the required outcome.
Use early attempts to test timing and blast behavior. Avoid committing to a sequence until you know which objects can be affected by each explosion; a small change in order can determine whether a puzzle succeeds.
Before you begin
Map the blast path and likely chain reaction before acting.
Restart and use failed attempts to learn the puzzle’s timing.
Boston Bomb Club is a DOS puzzle game developed and published by Silmarils. Its central premise is to solve compact bomb-based challenges by arranging, activating, and timing explosive devices within enclosed playfields. Rather than focusing on reflex-heavy action, it emphasizes planning, spatial reasoning, and understanding how objects interact. The game is presented from a fixed two-dimensional viewpoint and is structured around individual puzzles. It is a relatively obscure early-1990s computer title; detailed contemporary reception is limited, although it is remembered by specialist retro-game catalogs as an inventive puzzle release from Silmarils.
