Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
Missions take place on overhead maps containing rooms, corridors, terrain, enemies, and objectives. The player moves individual squad members, searches locations, uses weapons or equipment, and manages the team’s response to threats.
The objective varies by mission, but success generally depends on completing the assigned operation and preserving useful personnel and equipment. Turns allow the player to plan movement and attacks methodically; progression comes from completing missions and improving the squad’s operational capabilities.
Plan your run
Move cautiously and keep the squad together enough to support threatened units, while avoiding unnecessary exposure. Search the environment and manage ammunition and equipment before committing to prolonged fights.
Use cover and corners to limit enemy approaches, and spend actions on positioning when a clear attack is unavailable. Treat experienced or well-equipped soldiers as valuable resources rather than disposable units.
Breach is a science-fiction tactical strategy game developed and published by Omnitrend Software for DOS in 1987. The player commands a small team of soldiers during missions against hostile forces in futuristic environments. Combat is presented from an overhead perspective and emphasizes careful positioning, equipment use, and limited resources rather than reflexes. Each operation combines exploration with turn-based tactical engagements. The game was recognized by computer-game players for offering detailed squad control and a comparatively demanding simulation of futuristic infantry combat. Its interface and rules can feel austere today, but Breach is an important early example of the squad-based tactics later associated with the series.
