Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a top-down world map and separate real-time scenes for exploration and confrontations. The main objective is to keep the settlement alive while gathering supplies, improving facilities, and dealing with competing survivors and threats.
Players travel between locations, search ruins, trade or fight, recruit useful people, and assign scarce resources. Time and supplies limit every expedition, while character abilities influence the success of different tasks. Progress comes from expanding the community, securing better equipment, and completing the objectives associated with the campaign.
Plan your run
Plan every trip around available food, water, equipment, and the distance to the next safe location. Short expeditions are safer early in the game, when the settlement has few reserves.
Recruit specialists whose abilities complement the needs of the community. Avoid unnecessary fights, trade surplus resources when possible, and improve the settlement before attempting long journeys or heavily defended areas.
Burntime is a post-apocalyptic strategy and adventure game developed and published by Max Design for DOS. Set after a global catastrophe, it places the player in control of a survivor trying to build a functioning community in a hostile wasteland. The game combines map-based exploration, resource management, trading, recruitment, and real-time encounters with rival groups and dangerous creatures. Its play style is deliberately demanding: food, water, equipment, and safe shelter must be managed while the player decides where to travel and whom to trust. Burntime received attention for its unusual setting and broad strategic freedom, although its interface and unforgiving systems were considered difficult for newcomers. It remains a distinctive example of late-1990s German strategy design.
