Karadoc
A thief and the playable protagonist, hired to investigate Castle Wulf and recover its hidden treasure.
How it plays
The game uses an isometric viewpoint. Karadoc explores the castle one screen or room at a time, searching containers, collecting objects, reading clues, operating mechanisms, and finding routes through locked or hazardous areas.
Progress depends on solving puzzles and managing a limited inventory. Enemies, traps, falling hazards, and environmental dangers can reduce Karadoc's health, while weapons and consumable items provide situational help. The castle is divided into areas with increasingly involved challenges.
Plan your run
Examine rooms carefully before moving through them. Search containers and test apparently ordinary objects, since small items can be required much later.
Conserve health, weapons, and consumables. Record clues and locked locations, and revisit earlier rooms when a newly acquired object or mechanism suggests another route.

Cadaver is an isometric action-adventure game developed by The Bitmap Brothers and published by Image Works for DOS in 1990. It follows Karadoc, a thief hired to explore the recently ruined Castle Wulf. The game combines room-by-room exploration, environmental puzzles, object manipulation, traps, and occasional combat rather than focusing on constant fighting. Its detailed isometric presentation, demanding puzzles, and unusual inventory interactions gave it a distinctive identity among early-1990s computer adventures. Contemporary and later reception commonly recognized its atmosphere and depth, although the controls and unforgiving design could make progress difficult. Cadaver was followed by the expansion-like sequel Cadaver: The Payoff.
