Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game is viewed from changing side-scrolling or third-person perspectives, depending on the event. Players choose an activity, guide an athlete or vehicle through a course, and earn points by completing objectives, avoiding hazards, and performing stunts.
Events are played as individual challenges rather than as one continuous adventure. Progress is based on learning each course, improving timing, and achieving higher scores; the compilation does not use character levels, equipment trees, or a story campaign.
Plan your run
Learn one event at a time instead of treating the compilation as a single control scheme. Short, controlled inputs are generally safer than holding a direction, especially during jumps and landings.
Prioritize staying upright and completing the course before attempting risky stunts. Repeated practice is important because scoring opportunities and hazards are tied closely to each event's layout.
Before you begin
Practice each event separately because the controls and scoring goals change between activities.
Favor safe landings and completed runs before attempting advanced stunts.
Use repeated attempts to memorize hazards and the timing of jumps or turns.
California Games II is a 1990 sports compilation developed and published by Epyx for DOS. It presents a group of arcade-style events inspired by California leisure and extreme sports, including skateboarding, jet skiing, hang gliding, surfing, and snowboarding. Each event uses simple controls but emphasizes timing, balance, stunt execution, and course knowledge rather than simulation. Players can compete across separate events and pursue high scores through repeated attempts. The game followed the successful California Games and retained its colorful, accessible presentation while offering a different selection of activities. Reception was mixed, with reviewers often appreciating the variety and humor but criticizing uneven event quality and controls that could feel imprecise.
