How it plays

How does Call of Duty: World at War play?

The game uses a first-person perspective. Missions assign objectives such as advancing through enemy positions, defending locations, destroying equipment, and operating vehicles.

The campaign alternates between American and Soviet scenarios and is divided into linear stages. The Nintendo DS interface uses the lower touch screen for aiming and interaction, while missions add mounted weapons, driving, and other context-sensitive sequences. Progress is earned by completing stages rather than by building a persistent character.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Call of Duty: World at War?

Use cover and move between firing positions instead of staying exposed. Watch the objective text because mission goals can change during scripted events.

Conserve ammunition during longer stages, use explosive weapons against groups or fortified targets, and approach vehicle sections according to their specific objective rather than treating them as ordinary shooting galleries.
