How it plays

How does Campaign play?

The game uses an overhead operational perspective. The player assigns and moves military units, selects objectives, and attempts to capture or defend important locations while opposing forces maneuver across the map.

Battles are resolved through tactical decisions and the relative position and strength of units. Progress comes from completing operational goals and adapting plans as the front changes. The DOS version is primarily a single-player command simulation; exact scenario and setup options may vary by release.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Campaign?

Study the map before committing major formations, and keep reserves available near important objectives. Advancing too quickly can expose units and leave gaps in the line.

Use terrain, concentration of force, and secure supply routes where possible. Reassess the situation after every major engagement rather than following the initial plan rigidly.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Learn the unit and map symbols before starting a serious campaign.

  2. 2

Avoid spreading forces so thinly that key objectives become undefended.

  3. 3

Save before major operational decisions when the version permits it.
