Captain Blood
A scientist and space explorer whose digitized consciousness has been duplicated into five clones. The player controls the original Captain Blood while searching for them.
How it plays
The game uses a first-person space-exploration perspective built around map navigation, planet selection, and conversation. The main objective is to locate and deal with Captain Blood's five clones, whose identities and locations must be discovered through investigation.
Players move through star systems, land on planets, communicate with Oorxx, and use gathered information to guide the next journey. Progress depends largely on interpreting dialogue and maintaining a useful mental record of locations, identities, and requests rather than accumulating conventional experience levels or equipment.
Plan your run
Keep a written record of every planet, Oorxx encounter, clone clue, and requested action. The universe is deliberately difficult to track mentally, and revisiting locations is often necessary.
Treat conversations as the primary source of progression. Compare names and locations carefully, avoid acting on an unverified assumption, and plan routes before traveling so that fuel and time are not wasted.
Meet the cast

The alien inhabitants encountered throughout the universe. Their dialogue and reactions provide essential information for exploration and investigation.
Before you begin
Record coordinates, names, and clues outside the game.
Read alien dialogue carefully; information is more important than speed.
Revisit planets when a later clue changes the meaning of an earlier conversation.
Captain Blood is a science-fiction adventure game developed by Exxos and published by Infogrames for DOS in 1988. You play a digitized space explorer whose five clones are scattered across a vast universe, creating a personal mission of identification, communication, and recovery. The game emphasizes open-ended exploration rather than conventional combat or puzzle sequences. Players travel between planets, interact with alien Oorxx, gather information, and decide how to approach each encounter. Its unusual interface, bleak atmosphere, and ambitious procedural-feeling universe earned attention as an inventive European computer game, although its opaque systems and demanding presentation made it a distinctly niche experience.
