Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game is presented from a behind-the-car driving perspective. The main objective is to complete races quickly while controlling speed through corners, avoiding crashes, and learning each track’s layout. Different cars have distinct acceleration, braking, and handling characteristics.
Players select a vehicle and course, then compete in timed or race-oriented events. Progress comes primarily from improving driving technique and choosing a car that matches the circuit; there is no documented role-playing progression or character-based campaign.
Plan your run
Learn braking points before attempting to maximize speed. Enter corners under control, then accelerate smoothly on the exit rather than carrying too much speed into the turn.
Compare cars on the same circuit and use practice runs to identify which vehicle’s handling suits the track. Consistent laps are generally more valuable than risky attempts at a single fast corner.
Before you begin
Brake before corners and accelerate after the car is pointed toward the exit.
Practice one circuit at a time and compare lap consistency.
Choose handling that you can control rather than relying only on top speed.
Car and Driver is a DOS driving simulation developed by Looking Glass Technologies and published by Accolade in 1992. It combines circuit racing with a broad selection of real-world and fictional cars, emphasizing vehicle handling, setup, and performance comparison rather than arcade-style power-ups. Players can test cars on several tracks and tune their approach to suit different layouts. The game was noted for its ambitious physics and detailed presentation for the period, although its demanding controls and simulation focus made it less immediately accessible than simpler racing games.
