Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses the standard backgammon board from a fixed overhead perspective. Each turn begins with a dice roll, after which the player selects legal moves for their checkers and tries to advance them toward their home board.
The objective is to bear off every checker first. Movement is governed by the dice, while occupied points, blots, captures, and the availability of legal moves determine tactical options. The available reference information does not establish additional modes, campaigns, or progression systems.
Plan your run
Prioritize safe progress while avoiding unnecessary exposure of single checkers. Building points with two or more checkers can restrict the opponent and create useful defensive structure.
Use rolls flexibly: advancing toward bearing off is not always best if it leaves a blot vulnerable or fails to block an important entry point. Before moving, check every legal alternative and consider the opponent's likely reply.
Colossus X Backgammon is a DOS computer adaptation of backgammon, the classic race-and-capture board game. The developer and publisher are not reliably identified in the available reference data, and a verified release year is unavailable. Players compete against a computer opponent by moving pieces around the board according to dice rolls, attempting to bear off all pieces before the other side. The game belongs to the traditional board-game and strategy categories rather than an action-oriented format. Its historical reception is difficult to assess because contemporary documentation and reviews are limited. Its main interest today is as a period DOS implementation of a well-established tabletop game.
