Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a top-down perspective. Players purchase or receive building plots, place roads and utilities, construct houses, and fill them with tenants who generate income. Different tenant types have different needs, rents, and effects on the neighborhood.
Construction, maintenance, finances, and public services must be balanced in real time. Campaign scenarios and multiplayer-style competitions set objectives involving money, property, or rival companies. Progress comes from expanding the settlement, unlocking better buildings and tenants, and using workers, criminals, and special characters to protect or sabotage the company.
Plan your run
Plan roads and utilities before placing large numbers of houses, because later rebuilding is expensive and disruptive. Keep enough cash in reserve for wages, repairs, and unexpected problems rather than spending every available dollar on construction.
Study tenant requirements and mix profitable residents with the services they need. Expand steadily, protect important sites, and use disruptive units selectively; aggressive tactics can create short-term advantages but may also increase management problems.
Before you begin
Keep a reserve of money for maintenance and emergencies.
Check tenant demands before developing a neighborhood.
Expand in compact areas to reduce infrastructure costs.
Constructor is a real-time city-building and business simulation game developed by System 3 and published by Acclaim Entertainment for DOS in 1997. The player runs a construction company, develops residential districts, manages tenants, and competes against rival builders. Its play style combines economic planning with direct interference, including the use of troublesome tenants and hired gangs to disrupt opponents. The game was noted for its darkly comic presentation and unusually aggressive strategy mechanics. Reception was mixed to positive: critics often praised its distinctive personality and depth, while some found the interface demanding and the pace difficult for newcomers.
