Crash Bandicoot
The orange bandicoot protagonist who fights Cortex’s forces and rescues the controlled inhabitants of Wumpa Island.
How it plays
The game presents a side-scrolling view across platforming stages on Wumpa Island. Crash moves through hazards, breaks crates, defeats enemies, collects Wumpa fruit, and searches for routes through compact environments.
Crash can take control of certain mutants and use their distinct attacks or movement abilities. Progression comes from clearing stages, reaching objectives, and using the appropriate mutant power to pass obstacles or defeat stronger foes.
Plan your run
Learn the behavior of each mutant before using it in combat. A mutant’s special movement or attack is often more useful for solving a stage than for defeating ordinary enemies.
Break crates and collect fruit when safe, but avoid rushing into groups of enemies. When a route appears blocked, look for a nearby mutant or an alternate platforming path rather than repeatedly attacking the obstacle.

Crash: Mind Over Mutant is a side-scrolling platformer and action-adventure game developed for Nintendo DS by Santa Cruz Games and published by Activision. Crash must stop Neo Cortex and the evil masks known as the Evil Twins from controlling the minds of Wumpa Island’s inhabitants. The DS version uses a more compact, level-based structure than the larger console editions, combining jumping, spinning, combat, exploration, and mutant possession. Players can capture creatures and use their abilities to overcome obstacles and enemies. Reception was mixed: reviewers generally appreciated the familiar Crash character, humor, and variety, while criticizing the repetitive combat and technical limitations of the handheld version.
