Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a two-dimensional side view. The objective is to cross each dungeon area, defeat enemies, collect useful items, and reach the exit while surviving hazards and limited health.
Levels are arranged as separate platforming stages with vertical passages, secret areas, keys, treasures, and hostile creatures. The player advances by running, jumping, attacking, and carefully choosing routes through rooms and corridors. Progress comes from completing stages and reaching later parts of the volume; it does not use a modern character-leveling system.
Plan your run
Study enemy movement before committing to a jump, and keep room to retreat when several enemies approach. Search side passages for treasure and useful pickups, but do not trade unnecessary damage for optional items.
Use platforms and vertical space to separate enemies. When a route contains a key or exit, clear nearby threats first so a missed jump or collision does not force a dangerous recovery.
Dark Ages: Volume 3 - Dungeons of Doom is a side-scrolling fantasy action platformer developed by Scenario Software and published by Apogee Software for DOS. It concludes the Dark Ages trilogy, sending the hero through dangerous underground strongholds filled with monsters, traps, treasure, and locked routes. The game emphasizes direct keyboard-based movement, jumping, weapon attacks, and exploration rather than complex inventory management. Its episodic shareware-era presentation reflects Apogee’s early-1990s design style: compact levels, bright pixel art, abrupt hazards, and escalating challenge. Reception has generally focused on its substantial content and fast arcade action, while noting its demanding collision timing and old-fashioned controls.
