Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a strategic, top-down view of a planetary map divided into territories. Players place colonies and buildings, manage workers and resources, develop technology, form diplomatic relationships, and direct military forces against rival factions.
Each turn advances production, research, construction, and movement. Victory depends on the selected scenario or objectives, which can involve territorial control, economic growth, military dominance, or special shrine-related goals. Battles and expansion gradually provide access to stronger units, facilities, and technologies.
Plan your run
Expand early, but avoid placing colonies where supply and resource access are poor. Secure valuable production, food, and research locations before rivals can occupy them.
Research should support the current plan rather than advance randomly. Maintain defenses around important colonies, watch diplomatic relationships, and use terrain and specialization to make each settlement serve a clear economic or military purpose.
Before you begin
Develop a stable resource economy before committing to a large army.
Keep frontier colonies defended and connected to your logistical network.
Use diplomacy to delay stronger opponents while improving technology.
Deadlock II: Shrine Wars is a turn-based science-fiction 4X strategy game developed by Cyberlore Studios and published by Accolade. Players lead a competing alien faction while establishing colonies, exploiting planetary resources, researching technologies, negotiating with rivals, and fighting for control of a contested world. The game combines empire management with tactical battlefield decisions and a distinctive political setting. Its campaign structure supports both economic development and military expansion, while faction differences encourage varied approaches. Reception was generally favorable among strategy players for its breadth and atmosphere, although its interface and complexity could make the game demanding for newcomers.
