How it plays

How does Destiny of an Emperor II: The Legend of Zhuge Liang play?

The adventure is viewed from an overhead perspective. Players move Liu Bei's army across a world map, visit towns, recruit officers, buy equipment, and trigger story events. Random encounters and scripted battles lead to turn-based combat.

Each battle is organized around officers and units. Commands include attacking, using tactics, defending, and managing morale or formations where supported by the version. Progress comes from recruiting stronger generals, improving equipment, gaining experience, and advancing through the campaign's historical chapters.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Destiny of an Emperor II: The Legend of Zhuge Liang?

Recruit notable officers whenever the story or town roster allows it, and keep capable generals assigned to active units rather than leaving the roster unused. Equipment and officer quality matter greatly in ordinary encounters.

Before major scripted battles, heal, restock, and check formations and tactics. Do not spend every resource on attacks: defensive commands, morale management, and appropriate tactics can decide difficult fights. Save before entering unfamiliar towns or story battles when the DOS version permits saving.
