Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game is viewed through side-on underground sections and management screens. The main objective is to establish mining sites, extract valuable materials, and earn enough money to expand the operation while keeping workers supplied and productive.
Players select workers, direct excavation, place or operate equipment, and move resources through the mine. Progress comes from finding better deposits, improving facilities, and managing the workforce across increasingly difficult locations.
Plan your run
Begin with a compact mining layout and avoid spending all available cash on equipment. Establish a reliable supply of basic materials before expanding into deeper or more hazardous areas.
Keep workers assigned to useful tasks, monitor production and expenses, and improve transport and processing capacity when bottlenecks appear. Exploration is valuable, but an unprofitable mine can consume resources quickly.
Before you begin
Build a stable income before attempting ambitious expansions.
Watch transport and processing capacity; mined resources are useless if they cannot be handled.
Use the management screens regularly to identify idle workers and costly operations.
Diggers is a science-fiction mining strategy game developed by Millennium Interactive and published by Psygnosis for DOS. The player manages an expedition on an alien world, assigning workers to excavate minerals, construct facilities, and maintain a profitable underground operation. Its play style combines resource management, exploration, and light base building rather than direct action. The game is remembered for its distinctive subterranean presentation, multiple worker species, and unusually detailed economic systems. Reception was generally positive for its atmosphere and ambition, although the interface and slower pace could make it demanding for newcomers.
