Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game uses a mostly two-dimensional subterranean view. Players direct mining teams through underground areas, identify resource deposits, operate machinery, and manage the supplies needed to keep an extraction site productive.
Progress comes from gathering and selling resources, improving equipment, and opening access to deeper or more difficult areas. The main play structure centers on managing an expanding operation rather than on conventional combat, with careful planning required to balance exploration, extraction, and crew activity.
Plan your run
Start by learning the layout of each work area before committing scarce equipment or supplies. Keep crews supplied and avoid expanding faster than the operation can support.
Before you begin
Plan routes through underground areas before sending crews deeper.
Keep resources and operating costs under review during expansion.
Diggers 2: Extractors is a strategy and simulation game developed by Millenium Interactive and published by Psygnosis for DOS. It places the player in charge of alien mining operations beneath a planet’s surface, where crews must locate and extract valuable resources while expanding their working area. Play combines resource management, crew direction, exploration, and the use of specialized equipment. The game follows the earlier Diggers and retains its unusual subterranean setting, but broadens the management-focused structure. Reception was mixed: its distinctive premise and detailed interface attracted fans of niche strategy games, while the slow pace and sometimes demanding controls limited its wider appeal.
