Player Tamer
The customizable protagonist who commands Digimon and advances the story.
How it plays
The player explores connected areas from a third-person overhead perspective, speaking with characters, accepting missions, collecting items, and opening routes through the Digital World. Random encounters and story events lead to turn-based battles against enemy Digimon.
Digimon can be recruited, trained, equipped, and arranged in a party. Battles use commands such as attacks, techniques, items, guarding, and switching party members. Digivolution and de-digivolution let players develop a Digimon along different growth paths, while the Digi-Farm provides an additional place to train and manage stored partners.
Plan your run
Build a balanced party with different attributes and attack types rather than relying on one Digimon. Keep several Digimon in training so that a replacement is available when a battle or required Digivolution exposes a weakness.
Review each Digimon's conditions before Digivolving. Some paths require particular levels, stats, skills, or other conditions, so retaining multiple forms and using de-digivolution can preserve access to later options.

One of the central antagonists driving the main conflict.
Digimon World DS is a monster-taming role-playing game developed by BEC for the Nintendo DS. It follows a young Tamer who explores the Digital World, recruits Digimon, and investigates conflicts involving rival groups and powerful creatures. The game combines a story-driven adventure with turn-based battles, party management, Digivolution, and optional training activities. Players build a team from a large roster rather than controlling a single permanent hero in combat. Its dual-screen presentation and touch-screen features support the Digivice-style interface. Reception was generally positive among Digimon fans for its substantial collection mechanics and traditional RPG structure, although critics noted repetitive progression and limited exploration compared with some other role-playing games.
