How it plays

How does WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game play?

The game uses a side-view fighting perspective. A selected wrestler battles opponents in one-on-one matches, using punches, kicks, grapples, throws, jumping attacks, and character-specific special moves. Matches focus on depleting the opponent’s health before the player’s own meter is exhausted.

The primary progression is a sequence of matches against the roster, with difficulty and opponent strength increasing through the run. The DOS version also supports competitive two-player play when suitable input devices are connected. Its rules and presentation are closer to an arcade fighter than to a detailed wrestling simulator.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game?

Learn the timing of each wrestler’s grapple and special attack before relying on rapid button presses. Use jumping attacks and movement to create openings, then commit to a short damaging sequence rather than repeatedly attacking into a guard.

Against large wrestlers, keep your distance until an attack misses. Against faster opponents, defend patiently and punish their recovery. In two-player matches, watch the opponent’s spacing and save powerful attacks for moments when they cannot immediately counter.
