Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game is played from a first-person viewpoint while riding a dragon through open three-dimensional mission areas. Objectives include attacking enemy dragons, destroying ground targets, protecting friendly forces, and reaching mission goals before the dragon or its resources are exhausted.
Players steer in the air, select targets, use the dragon's attacks, and manage combat positioning. Missions form a campaign, with successful sorties advancing the story and allowing later scenarios to be attempted with greater experience and tougher opposition.
Plan your run
Keep moving during aerial engagements rather than flying in a predictable straight line. Use altitude and turning room to line up attacks, especially when several enemies are present.
Read each mission objective carefully and prioritize required targets over optional combat. Avoid wasting attacks on distant or poorly aligned targets, and leave enough time and resources to complete the return or protection portion of a mission.
Before you begin
Learn the flight controls in an early mission before attempting difficult combat objectives.
Prioritize mission-critical targets instead of pursuing every enemy.
Use open space to turn and reposition before attacking.
DragonStrike is a fantasy action game and dragon-flight simulator developed by Westwood Associates and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc. for DOS in 1990. The player controls a trained dragon serving the forces of good, taking part in aerial missions across a campaign inspired by the DragonLance setting. Its play style combines first-person flight, target selection, weapon management, and combat against enemy dragons and ground forces. The game was notable for applying simulation-style controls and mission objectives to a fantasy subject, although contemporary reception was mixed because of its demanding interface and uneven combat pace.
