Documented for this version
The DOS version uses a mouse-based point-and-click interface.
Exact button assignments can vary with the control configuration.
How it plays
DreamWeb presents locations from a fixed isometric perspective. Ryan moves through apartments, streets, offices, and other urban areas while examining surroundings, speaking with characters, collecting objects, and combining or using items to advance.
The main objective is to identify and kill seven targets connected to the game's central conspiracy. Progress is largely linear, with new areas and interactions becoming available as players complete investigative and inventory puzzles. The game has a single-player story mode and no documented alternate campaign or multiplayer mode.
Plan your run
Examine every accessible object and revisit locations after major discoveries. Important items are often needed later, so avoid discarding or overlooking anything that appears unusual.
Keep notes about conversations, target identities, and item combinations. DreamWeb's progression can be difficult to read from the interface, and several puzzles depend on using an object in the correct location rather than simply finding it.

Editorial context
A distinctive and atmospheric cyberpunk adventure with an unusual isometric viewpoint, but its opaque puzzles and grim subject matter can make it demanding.
DreamWeb is a cyberpunk point-and-click adventure developed by Creative Reality and published by Empire Interactive for DOS in 1994. It follows Ryan, a troubled operative who believes he has been chosen by the DreamWeb to eliminate seven influential figures before a catastrophe reshapes the world. The game uses a deliberately bleak, top-down isometric presentation rather than the more common side-on adventure view. Players investigate locations, collect objects, question characters, and solve inventory-based puzzles while managing Ryan's increasingly unstable state of mind. Its adult themes, violent premise, and oppressive atmosphere gave it a distinctive identity, although contemporary reception was mixed because of its difficult puzzles and unconventional interface.
