John Tanner
An undercover police driver and the protagonist. Tanner investigates the criminal network at the center of the campaign.
How it plays
The game uses a top-down perspective. Tanner drives through city areas, follows or intercepts targets, avoids police and enemy vehicles, and leaves his car for on-foot combat or investigation sequences.
Missions provide specific objectives such as reaching destinations, destroying or escaping vehicles, collecting evidence, and defeating enemies. Progression follows the campaign, with later missions increasing the demands on driving, shooting, and route planning.
Plan your run
Learn the layout of each city section before attempting difficult timed objectives. Use wide routes when being chased, because tight corners can make the vehicle difficult to control.
During combat, keep moving and use cover or obstacles where available. Save ammunition for mission-critical enemies, and restart quickly when an early mistake makes a timed objective unrecoverable.

Driv3r is an action-driving game developed for Game Boy Advance by Crawfish Interactive and published by Atari. It follows undercover police driver John Tanner as he investigates an international criminal operation involving stolen cars and organized crime. The handheld version adapts the console game into a compact top-down presentation, combining vehicle chases, shooting, and mission-based exploration. Players move through city environments, pursue targets, escape enemies, and complete objectives under time and combat pressure. Reception was mixed: critics recognized the ambitious attempt to bring Driv3r’s structure to GBA, but commonly noted simplified visuals, limited scale, and controls that could feel imprecise compared with the console editions.
