How it plays
The game uses a top-down adventure perspective between battles. The player travels through story areas, talks to characters, collects cards, and challenges duelists.
Card battles are turn-based. Players summon creatures, cast spells, attack opposing shields, and try to reduce the opponent’s shield zone before delivering a final attack. Winning duels provides progress and can expand the cards available for deck construction.
Plan your run
Build a focused deck instead of mixing too many civilizations. Keep enough low-cost creatures to establish the board early, then support them with spells and stronger creatures.
Protect shields when an attack is not necessary, and watch the opponent’s mana and available blockers before committing to a final attack. Review the deck after each major duel and replace cards that are too expensive to play consistently.

Duel Masters: Sempai Legends is a Game Boy Advance collectible card game with role-playing and adventure elements, developed by Mistic Software and published by Atari. It places the player in the Duel Masters world, where card battles, exploration, and deck improvement are combined into a single campaign. Players build a deck from creature, spell, and evolution cards, then challenge rivals using the series’ five civilization system. The game was released during the early expansion of the Duel Masters franchise outside Japan. Reception was mixed: its card-battle adaptation and portable format were recognized as appealing, while repetitive progression, limited presentation, and a learning curve for newcomers were frequent criticisms.
