How it plays

How does Dungeon Hack play?

The game uses a first-person view of procedurally generated dungeons. The player creates an AD&D character, chooses a class and abilities, explores rooms and corridors, opens doors and containers, manages equipment, and battles monsters in turn-based encounters.

Each expedition is structured around exploration and survival rather than a linear plot. Character levels, spells, weapons, armor, and other discoveries improve the adventurer, but death ends the run. Random layouts, encounters, traps, and treasure make new attempts substantially different.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Dungeon Hack?

Build a character with a clear role and avoid spreading abilities too thinly. Examine the dungeon carefully, conserve healing and spell resources, and retreat when a fight is beyond the party’s capabilities.

Keep useful equipment organized and identify unfamiliar items cautiously. Because dungeon layouts and encounters are randomized, learning when to explore and when to withdraw is more important than memorizing a fixed route.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Conserve healing, ammunition, and spells until their use is necessary.

  2. 2

Check equipment and surroundings frequently; random dungeons can hide both valuable items and dangerous traps.
