How it plays
The game uses an overhead, mouse-driven real-time strategy perspective. Each mission requires the player to establish or protect a base, collect resources, produce units, and complete objectives such as destroying enemy installations or reaching a designated location.
Two opposing factions offer different technology trees, buildings, and military units. Players expand through construction and resource management, then improve their forces with research and captured or occupied strategic positions. Campaign missions provide structured progression, while skirmish and multiplayer modes support battles outside the main story.
Plan your run
Secure resource sites early and protect the routes between them. A base that expands too quickly can become difficult to defend.
Scout before committing expensive units. Combine different unit types, keep repair or support facilities near the front, and research upgrades that match the mission rather than spending resources on every available technology.
Use terrain and chokepoints to limit enemy movement, and preserve veteran units whenever possible because replacing experienced forces can be costly.
Before you begin
Build defenses around resource facilities and production buildings.
Keep mobile units available to respond to attacks on distant structures.
Save before major assaults so failed attacks do not consume irreplaceable forces.
Earth 2140 is a science-fiction real-time strategy game developed by Reality Pump Studios and published by TopWare Interactive for DOS in 1997. It presents a future conflict between the Eurasian Dynasty and the United Civilized States, two technologically advanced human factions competing for control of a devastated Earth. Players command armies from an overhead perspective, build bases, gather resources, research technology, and direct vehicle and infantry forces in campaign missions or multiplayer battles. The game received attention for its large selection of units and detailed strategic systems, although reviews also noted a steep learning curve and uneven interface design. It later became the starting point for the Earth series.
