How it plays

How does Exile II: Crystal Souls play?

The game uses an overhead perspective for exploration. The party travels through connected outdoor areas, settlements, dungeons, and special locations while investigating the surface invasion and completing quests for different groups.

Combat is turn-based. Characters use weapons, armor, spells, and special abilities, while positioning, terrain, line of sight, and resource management influence each battle. Experience, equipment, spell access, and skill choices provide progression, and many quests can be approached in more than one way.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Exile II: Crystal Souls?

Build a party with complementary skills rather than concentrating every point in one area. Keep dedicated front-line fighters between enemies and vulnerable spellcasters, and carry enough healing and restorative supplies for long dungeon sections.

Talk to residents repeatedly and record quest details. Explore side areas before committing to major faction decisions, since experience, equipment, and information gained from optional locations can make later encounters substantially easier.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Save before entering unfamiliar locations or making major faction decisions.

  2. 2

Inspect containers and remote corners; useful equipment and quest information are often off the main route.

  3. 3

Restock healing supplies before long cave and dungeon expeditions.
