Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
Matches are played from a top-down perspective on a single ice rink. The objective is to outscore the opposing team by moving the puck through passing lanes, creating shooting opportunities, and protecting your own net.
Players control skaters individually during play, switching attention between attack and defense as possession changes. Progression is match-based rather than campaign-based; success comes from winning games, not from developing a persistent team or unlocking a long sequence of levels.
Plan your run
Keep a skater between the puck carrier and your goal instead of chasing the puck directly. Short passes are safer than carrying the puck through several defenders.
On offense, use the rink width to open shooting angles and pass before the defense closes in. On defense, protect the central lane first and force attacks toward the boards.
Face Off! is an ice-hockey sports game developed by Gamestar and published by GameTek for DOS in 1989. It presents the sport as a compact computer simulation focused on skating, passing, shooting, checking, and defending the goal rather than on a large licensed roster or season structure. The game is designed for direct match play, with a top-down view that keeps the rink and both teams visible at once. Its reception was modest: players generally recognized the accessible hockey action, while the limited presentation and relatively simple simulation reflected the technical constraints of late-1980s home computers.
