How it plays

How does Final Fantasy Tactics Advance play?

Players explore Ivalice through a world map, selecting missions, visiting towns, recruiting units, and managing equipment and jobs. Battles are turn-based and fought on small three-dimensional grids viewed from an isometric perspective.

Units can move, attack, use abilities, cast spells, steal, defend, and exploit terrain. Characters learn abilities from equipment, then combine a primary job with a secondary ability set. Clan missions, optional encounters, dispatch jobs, and new areas provide steady progression.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Final Fantasy Tactics Advance?

Build a balanced clan with reliable damage, healing, status support, and at least one unit able to attack from range. Learn abilities before replacing equipment, because removing an item can stop ability progress.

Check the laws before every battle and keep legal countermeasures available. Complete optional missions regularly to unlock recruits, areas, abilities, and equipment. Save rare mission rewards for jobs that benefit most from them.
