Cool Catz
The player character, a living snowball who travels through hazardous fire-themed environments.
How it plays
Cool Catz moves through side-view stages filled with platforms, hazards, enemies, and collectible objects. The main objective is to reach the end of each level while using the character's icy nature to deal with fire and progress through blocked areas.
Stages are built around jumping, positioning, enemy avoidance, and timing. Progression comes from completing successive levels, with later sections demanding more precise movement and greater awareness of hazards.
Plan your run
Study enemy movement before committing to a jump, and keep a safe route in mind when approaching hazards. Use the stage layout to create space rather than rushing through every obstacle.
Collectibles and alternate paths are worth checking when the route is safe, but survival should take priority in unfamiliar sections. Short, controlled movements are more reliable than continuous forward momentum.

Fire & Ice: The Daring Adventures of Cool Catz is a side-scrolling platform game developed by Graftgold and published by Renegade Software for DOS. The player controls Cool Catz, a living snowball whose icy abilities are used to oppose fire-based enemies and environmental hazards. The game combines conventional jumping and collecting with light environmental puzzles, requiring careful movement through compact stages. Its play style emphasizes exploration, timing, and avoiding damage rather than complex combat. The game originated in the early-1990s European home-computer scene and was generally recognized for its colorful presentation, responsive platforming, and inventive fire-and-ice theme. The DOS version preserves the core design while presenting it in a form suited to IBM-compatible computers.
