How it plays
Battles use a top-down grid. Players move allied units, attack enemies, use items or staves, rescue allies, and seize or defend objectives before ending the turn. Enemy units then act, so positioning and terrain are central to survival.
The campaign follows a branching route after an early story decision. Units gain experience and can promote into advanced classes, with some classes offering a choice between two promotions. Optional skirmishes and the Tower of Valni allow training outside the main chapters, while the Creature Campaign unlocks additional post-game challenges.
Plan your run
Protect fragile units by controlling enemy attack ranges and using terrain bonuses. Check weapon advantages before committing to an attack, and avoid ending turns where several enemies can reach the same unit.
Promote dependable units rather than spreading experience across the whole army. Use the Tower of Valni for controlled training, but remember that optional battles can make the main campaign substantially easier.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones is a turn-based tactical role-playing game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. Set on the continent of Magvel, it follows Princess Eirika and Prince Ephraim as they respond to the collapse of a former alliance and the return of an ancient evil. Players command a growing army across grid-based battlefields, balancing positioning, weapon matchups, character development, and permanent-death risks. Its branching promotion system and split-route story give the campaign more flexibility than several earlier entries. Critics generally praised its accessible mechanics, memorable cast, and presentation, while some considered its difficulty and map design less demanding than those of other Fire Emblem games.
