Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game is viewed from inside the cockpit of a mechanized combat unit. Missions place the player in open combat areas with objectives such as reaching locations, eliminating enemy units, protecting allies, or recovering mission-critical equipment.
Movement, aiming, weapon selection, and damage management are central actions. The player can operate different machines and use their weapons against infantry, vehicles, and other mechs. Campaign progress comes from completing missions, surviving encounters, and adapting to the capabilities and weaknesses of the assigned machine.
Plan your run
Learn each machine's movement and weapon behavior before entering difficult missions. Use terrain and distance to limit incoming fire, and avoid spending powerful ammunition on minor targets.
Watch the cockpit and damage indicators closely. When an objective allows it, prioritize survival and positioning over chasing every enemy, because combat can quickly reduce mobility or weapon effectiveness.
Before you begin
Use long-range weapons when the terrain gives you a clear line of fire.
Check your available weapons before committing to a close-range fight.
Treat damaged mobility systems as a warning to change position or disengage.
G-Nome is a first-person mecha action game developed and published by 7th Level for DOS in 1997. The player pilots a combat exoskeleton across hostile environments while taking part in a military conflict involving rival factions and advanced walking machines. The game combines cockpit-based shooting with vehicle management, exploration, and mission objectives. Different machines provide distinct weapons, armor, and mobility characteristics, making equipment choice important during operations. Its presentation was ambitious for the period, with rendered 3D environments and a science-fiction setting, but contemporary reception was mixed. Reviewers generally noted its atmosphere and mechanical variety while criticizing uneven controls, artificial intelligence, and technical performance.
