How it plays

How does Genghis Khan play?

The game uses a strategic, map-based perspective rather than a direct battlefield view. Each turn is divided between domestic administration, diplomacy, military preparation, and campaigns against neighboring territories.

Players assign officers, develop cities, recruit and move troops, negotiate with rival rulers, and choose when to attack. Battles resolve as part of the larger campaign structure, with victory depending on preparation, leadership, forces, and regional control.

Progression comes from expanding the player's domain, improving its economy and military capacity, and securing succession or political stability. The central objective is to unify the required territories or build the strongest empire under the selected ruler.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Genghis Khan?

Begin by stabilizing income and food supplies before committing to prolonged wars. A growing army is useful only when cities can support it.

Develop frontier settlements, place capable officers where their skills matter most, and avoid opening several distant fronts at once. Diplomacy can buy time while a rival is stronger.

Consolidate conquered territory before advancing. Preserve experienced leaders and keep enough reserves to respond to rebellions or attacks from an unexpected border.
