Genghis Khan
The founder of the Mongol Empire and one of the central historical rulers represented in the campaign.
How it plays
The player views the campaign from an overhead strategic perspective and directs a ruler's realm across a map of Eurasia. Each turn is divided among administration, diplomacy, personnel decisions, and military operations.
Armies move between territories, conduct campaigns, and resolve battles through strategic commands. Progress depends on securing land, maintaining resources, managing officers, negotiating with neighboring powers, and dealing with succession and changing political conditions.
Plan your run
Build a stable economic base before attempting distant conquests. Keep capable officers in administrative and military positions, and avoid stretching armies across too many exposed territories.
Diplomacy and succession planning matter as much as battlefield victories. Secure borders, watch neighboring rulers, and preserve enough resources to respond when a campaign or leadership change creates new risks.
Meet the cast
The founder of the Mongol Empire and one of the central historical rulers represented in the campaign.

Before you begin
Prioritize reliable administration and officer placement before expanding aggressively.
Use diplomacy to reduce the number of active fronts and protect supply lines.
Keep reserves near vulnerable borders so a successful campaign does not leave the homeland undefended.
Aoki Ookami to Shiroki Mejika: Gencho Hishisei is a turn-based historical strategy game developed and published by Koei. Set during the rise of the Mongol Empire and the wider formation of Yuan-era power, it asks the player to manage a realm, expand territory, and shape succession across a large historical map. The game combines administration, diplomacy, military operations, and character management rather than focusing only on battlefield tactics. Its DOS release brings Koei's detailed campaign format to IBM PC-compatible systems. The title was respected among historical strategy players for its broad scope, large cast of leaders, and emphasis on long-term planning, although its many menus and statistics create a substantial learning curve.
