How it plays
The game is viewed from a side-on perspective and scrolls continuously from left to right. The objective is to survive each stage, destroy enemy waves and environmental targets, then defeat a stage boss.
Players collect orange power capsules and move a selection cursor across the power meter to activate upgrades. The available arsenal includes the main shot, missiles, double or laser weapons, Options, and defensive equipment. A limited number of continues and the selected difficulty affect progression through the campaign.

Before you begin
Use short taps rather than constant movement around narrow terrain.
Options can cover multiple firing angles, but keeping them alive is more important than chasing every enemy.
If the game becomes too difficult, replay early stages to improve capsule timing and memorize hazards.
Gradius Advance is a horizontally scrolling shoot 'em up developed by Mobile21 and published by Konami for the Game Boy Advance. The player pilots the Vic Viper through hostile space, fighting enemy formations, terrain hazards, bosses, and the series' distinctive volcanic stages. Its play style combines precise movement with risk management: collecting capsules lets the player activate weapons, missiles, options, or defensive equipment, but taking a hit can sharply reduce the ship's strength. The game presents an original campaign influenced by earlier Gradius conventions, with multiple difficulty settings and replay-focused arcade action. Reception generally recognized its faithful adaptation of the series formula and solid portable controls, while noting its demanding difficulty and occasional technical limitations.
