How it plays
The game uses a side-scrolling perspective across a sequence of combat stages. Players move, jump, aim in multiple directions, fire selected weapons, and defeat waves of enemies before facing major bosses.
Progression is stage-based. Weapon types can be collected and switched during play, while different firing modes support either movement or fixed-position aiming. The campaign includes branching stage choices and escalating boss encounters, with additional challenge modes available after completing the main adventure.
Plan your run
Use the open areas of each stage to keep moving while aiming diagonally or vertically at threats. Switch weapons according to enemy distance and formation instead of relying on one type.
Learn boss attack patterns, preserve health for later phases, and use jumps to pass through dangerous attacks when possible. Branching stages can be approached according to your preferred weapon and boss matchup.

Gunstar Super Heroes is a side-scrolling run-and-gun action game developed by Treasure and published by Sega for the Game Boy Advance. It follows the Gunstar siblings Red and Blue as they fight to stop the resurrection of the destructive Golden Silver and confront the dictator Smash Daisaku. The game emphasizes rapid movement, free aiming, weapon selection, and large boss battles rather than exploration or role-playing systems. Its compact stages combine platforming with constant shooting and set-piece encounters. Critics generally praised its animation, responsive controls, and faithful continuation of the Gunstar Heroes style, while noting that its short campaign and high difficulty could limit its appeal.
