Fun School 2: For the Under-6s
DOSEducational
How it plays
The game is viewed from inside the car in a first-person cockpit perspective. The objective is to complete a selected course against the clock while staying on the road and managing the vehicle through bends, ramps, jumps, and other hazards.
The speed course focuses on conventional racing lines, while the stunt course adds loops, jumps, and elevated sections that punish excessive speed or poor alignment. Progress is based on reaching checkpoints and completing the route before time expires; crashes and loss of control cost valuable time.
Plan your run
Brake before tight corners rather than entering them at maximum speed. Make small steering corrections, especially on stunt sections, because abrupt inputs can send the car off the track.
Approach ramps and loops with a stable line and controlled speed. Learn the course layout through repeated attempts, then use the available time efficiently by avoiding recoverable crashes and unnecessary corrections.
Before you begin
Use gentle steering inputs on the DOS version; overcorrection is a common cause of crashes.
Treat the stunt course as a precision-driving challenge, not simply a faster race.
Prioritize clean checkpoint runs over risky maximum-speed attempts.
Hard Drivin' is a first-person arcade racing and driving-simulation game developed by Atari Games and released for DOS by Domark in 1990. It presents a polygonal 3D road environment built around two contrasting challenges: a conventional speed course and a stunt course with jumps, loops, and elevated track sections. The game emphasizes steering, braking, acceleration, and maintaining control rather than simple power-ups or combat. Its cockpit viewpoint and polygonal scenery were technically ambitious for the period, although the demanding handling and limited home-computer performance produced a mixed reception. Hard Drivin' remains historically notable as an early attempt to bring an arcade-style 3D driving experience to personal computers.
