How it plays
The game is viewed from an overhead perspective. Each day, the player manages a farm, clears land, plants and waters crops, cares for animals, gathers items, fishes, mines, and visits nearby settlements.
Progression follows the in-game calendar. Crops and animals generate income, tools can be improved, new areas and facilities become available, and relationships develop through gifts and conversation. The main long-term objective is to rescue the Harvest Goddess by finding Harvest Sprites, but the player can also pursue marriage, wealth, and farm improvement at their own pace.
Plan your run
Plan each day around stamina and weather. Water crops early, keep animals supplied, and reserve time for profitable activities such as mining or fishing.
Use the calendar to prepare for festivals and crop seasons. Search systematically for Harvest Sprites, upgrade tools when materials allow, and raise friendship gradually through regular conversation and suitable gifts.
Save before major purchases, festivals, or risky mine trips. The game contains documented bugs, so keeping multiple save files is prudent.

Harvest Moon DS is a farming and life-simulation game developed by Marvelous Interactive for Nintendo DS. The player inherits an overgrown farm and works to restore it while helping the Harvest Goddess and the Harvest Sprites. Daily play combines planting crops, raising livestock, fishing, mining, exploring, and building relationships with villagers. The Nintendo DS version adds dual-screen presentation and touch-oriented features to the established Harvest Moon formula. Its open-ended calendar, many collectible sprites, and large number of farm tasks provide a substantial amount of content. Reception generally praised its depth and charm, although players also noted technical bugs and some uneven balance.
